Former Aberdonian opening for Lonestar, again

When the guys from Lonestar arrive this weekend, they might wonder if Taryn Kranhold opens every concert in Aberdeen.
Kranhold will be the warmup act for Lonestar Saturday at the Dakota Event Center, just as she was at the Brown County Fair on a rainy night in 2007.
Kranhold, 35, is an Aberdeen native who now lives near Nashville, Tenn. At the Brown County Fair show, Kranhold performed with a six-piece band, which included members of her family.
On Saturday, Kranhold will play with the NashVegas All Stars. She's one of the group's two lead singers.
Those who attended the Brown County Fair concert in 2007 had to negotiate around puddles.
“It was cold and rainy,” Kran-hold said in a phone interview.
She had planned to wear a tank top and shorts onstage. But because of the 50-degree weather, “I had to go shopping at the last minute.” She bought her stage attire from The Buckle.
Kranhold doesn't know any of the members of Lonestar. But she's glad to be a “hometown girl bringing in her band from Nashville.”
Kranhold's last Aberdeen concert was also at the DEC at a benefit concert in November for an Aberdeen Central classmate. That show had an amazing turnout, Kranhold said.
A 1996 Central graduate, Kran-hold performed in the band Night Wing during her 4 years in the Air Force. In the Nashville area, she is joined by her mother, Valerie, and her brother, Jason.
Kranhold promises a high-energy show Saturday night. The NashVegas All Stars do a lot of 1980s rock along with some country. In addition to “Don't Stop Believin’ ” and songs by Sugarland and Jason Aldean, she also promises to sing Adele's “Rolling in the Deep.”
When Lonestar last appeared in Aberdeen, lead singer Richie McDonald was in his final days with the group.
McDonald spent five years away from Lonestar, pursuing a solo career, before returning last year.
McDonald also plays piano. The other members of Lonestar are drummer Keech Rainwater, keyboardist Dean Sams and lead guitarist Michael Britt, who also provides backing vocals.
Lonestar also performed at the Brown County Fair in 1996.
The band formed in Nashville in 2002 and released its self-titled debut album in 1995. Since then, the foursome has sold more than 10 million albums and achieved 10 No. 1 country hits, including "No News," "Come Cryin’ to Me," "Amazed," “I'm Already There,” “Tell Her,” “Smile” and “What About Now.”
The group's last top 10 single was “Mountain,” which reached No. 10 in 2006.
